The slowly flowing Tagus...
carrying my younger days to the ocean. Requiescant in pace, there in the dusk.
But far beyond, up on the mountains that reach for heaven,
glimmers the river source.
From there they seem to descend upon me, all these dawns,
all new,
all blessed.
I too am at peace,
basking in the water of life.
I wrote the poem after returning home from this celebratory trip to the Portuguese capital.
